THC E Juice is one of the most discrete ways to consume cannabis. Follow this easy recipe and you can make it at home to use in your vape pen. If you’ve been looking for a way to use your e-cig or regular liquid pen vaporizer to smoke weed, look no further than the guide below.
Vaporizing cannabis is one of the most effective ways of consuming the fine plant that we’ve all come to know and love. Not only do you need less product, but you end up with much less of the tell-tale smell that screams you’ve been smoking. Eating cannabis baked into cookies, fudge, and brownies (i.e. edibles) is also another effective delivery method, but it takes longer for the effects of the THC to kick in due to digestion. Using shatter or wax can take a complex dab rig or specialty vaporizers. However, anyone with an authentic liquid pen vaporizer or box that handles e-juice can vaporize THC e juice easily.
That’s right, the same devices responsible for “blowing clouds” can now be used to smoke cannabis (or at least the cannabinoids derived from the plant).
The “E” in THC E Juice stands for “electronic” — meaning it can be vaporized using an electronic device like an e-cig or liquid vaporizer.
If you’re feeling DIY and want to save some $$$, you can make your own cannabis-infused E-Juice in the comfort of your own home. It is a relatively simple process, involving just a few tools that you may already have. Alternatively, Flawless vape shop has liquids.
Don’t Overlook The THC Dosage
Before we get into detailed instructions on how to infuse e-juice with THC, it’s important to talk a bit about dosage. You don’t want to make your juice too strong nor too weak. THC E Juice creation starts with wax or shatter. Assuming you are getting your wax or shatter from a dispensary, there should be dosage information on the package. If you are using another source, ask them if they know the percentage of THC the wax has in it. A good rule of thumb is that most solvent based hash-oils will land in the 60-90% THC range.
If you have a glob of wax that weighs in at one gram, and that wax is 80% THC, then the dose will measure out to 800mg of THC
Keep in mind that the recommended starting dose for something edible is only 5-10%, or 5-10mg. Dabs and THC E Juice are definitely not for beginners to cannabis consumption.
An Easy Recipe For THC E Juice
Just in case you’re a total newbie to making e-juice, let’s cover making a basic e-juice at home from scratch before we get to the infusing process. You’ll need some empty glass dropper bottles or plastic unicorn tip bottles with childproof caps. You’ll probably want some latex gloves to protect your hands. You will also need blunt tip syringes for accurate measuring, though you can use the counting drops method if you prefer.
You will need propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). Both are FDA approved and already used in many foods we all eat every day. Your base – this is the liquid before you add flavoring or nicotine – will be anywhere from 50/50 to 80/20 VG to PG. As long as you stay in this range, you should be safe.
Once the base is created, it’s just a matter of adding flavors or infusing herbs into the base until the desired taste and concentration is reached. There are many methods to steeping, but the easiest method is to cap your home-made e-juice bottles and let them sit in a dark, cool place for a few days.
THC E-Juice Infusion
Now that you understand the basics of how to make your own e-juice, let’s discuss how to infuse THC into a base using wax or shatter. If you need to know how to make THC E juice from buds, you are looking at a longer and much more involved process. Basically, you’ll need to extract the THC from raw plant material first. You can check out this post for all the different ways to extract THC from raw cannabis buds. The instructions below will assume you’ve already either purchased concentrates or made some yourself.
Hint: you can make rosin from home by just placing buds in wax paper and applying heat and pressure (even a hair straightener will do!).
Ingredients:
1 gram of hash oil (wax, shatter, or rosin is best) [available on WoahStork]
Bottle of your preferred e-juice mix of PG and VG
Instructions:
- In a ceramic bowl, use a spoon to flatten your gram of wax, shatter, or other hash oil. Cover it with parchment or wax paper to keep it from sticking to the spoon.
- Melt your wax. There are a couple of methods to accomplish this. One is to place the bowl with the flattened material in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. Another method is to pop it in the microwave and use the “defrost” setting for a minute at time. Get the mixture runny.
- Begin adding drops of your VG/PG mix (start with about 30) and stir for about a minute. The wax and the VG/PG mix should be completely incorporated.
- Let the mixture cool completely. It should be about the consistency of honey. If it is too thick, warm it again slowly and add more drops of your VG/PG mix until it is the correct consistency.
- Place your THC-infused e-juice into your vaporizer and enjoy!
Now you know how to make your own THC E Juice. Like most E-Juices, there will be some smell of cannabis, but not nearly as much as if you were smoking a joint or a bowl of bud. Whether starting from scratch with finely ground buds or with shatter or wax, you can now vape your cannabis from any vape pen or mod. Keep in mind you could also use this method to create CBD E-Juice by using either CBD concentrates or making concentrates from strains high in CBD. Happy vaping!
You should decarboxylize your concentrate to be on the safe side. I have better results this way, even though I know the vape pen should be hot enough to do it.
Only decarboxylase if you plan on eating it!
Add heat, lose terpenes
Agreed. However, to get the plant material into concentrate form for THC E Juice, you’re going to need some form of extraction process.
I believe this article is intended for patients and recreational consumers who have access to concentrates prepared by professionals or licensed companies. A method of extraction was given as an example in the article for consumers who may not have access to concentrates (making rosin).
It is not advised, nor legal for individuals to make extracts from solvents.
Agreed! Rosin should be the ONLY extraction method attempted by non-professionals who cannot acquire concentrates in a dispensary.
is this a federal law that i’m not aware of?
or is this just your state/county laws?
I’m unfamiliar with any federal law on this? ( although, that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. lord knows I don’t know them all)
just am not familiar with that one. if you can give me the statue or code on it?
thanks
Laws in regards to what? THC is only legal in certain states. You could make CBD E-Juice in any state, though.
BHO is legal for extraction in Michigan as long as it is not in the “cortege” of a residence or public property. So to be legal you have to do it on private land that does not have a house on it. This makes it hard but not impossible for the home user to do. But use common sense when doing it. If you are open blasting be outside way away from everything. Closed system is better and some end user ones are not that expensive.
I bought a pre-filled thc vape cartridge and it’s way too strong for a noob like me. One hit and I was bouncing off the walls
I would like to make a weak mixture with a gram of crumble I bought
I’m a long time DIY vaperm could I just use more base to make it less potent?
I also prefer 80/20 pg/vg, is that ok for THC base?
Also I would like to add my all day flavor, is that ok also?
Thanks!
The less concentrate, the better actually! The PG/VG mixture will blend better with less plant material. I tend to enjoy some of the vape cartridges that are 1:1. CBD has been shown to curb a lot of the anxiety and “intensity” you speak of.
Hello Sir… I noticed your comment about a thc vape cartridge that you used and was too strong. I’d like to know the details of that cartridg please… name , brand, strength, strain. Thanks:)
Can thc oil work as well?
THC oil you can vape directly with a “vape pen” ( https://learn.woahstork.com/lifestyle/vaping_cannabis/). However, if you want to use it in an E-Cig, you’d be better off diluting it with VG or PG since the E-Cig coils will burn much much more and probably make that a far more intense hit and probably lead to waste.
I have tried several times to make e juice from Rosin and the effects suck. The pen vaporizer I use does not get hot enough to turn the THCa to THC, thus giving you a really weird body high with none of the psycadelic effects you want. PG and PeG suck too. Horrible taste and the recent studies claim that they produce too much Formaldehyde when vaporized. Better off using MCT oil (derived from fractionated coconut oil). MCT and Vegetable Glycerin are your safest bet but VG will seperate from the THC. I have decided to decarb my product prior to adding my MCT cutting agent. I just use terpenes to the mix afterwards to create the entourage effect, potency and flavor.
Yes. Decarboxylation is quite important (https://learn.woahstork.com/cannabis-science/decarboxylation/). If your pen isn’t heating it up enough, then your idea of decarboxylating slightly in MCT and then adding PG is actually quite a good idea. We may edit this post to reflect some of those suggestions. Many thanks!
The safety of terpene additives is doubtful, and companies should stop using flavoring as a marketing tool, because the value of your lungs is greater. As for the synergistic effect, it is not something humans can replicate with additives.
“{…} According to a new study published in ACS Omega, a Journal of the American Chemical Society […] researchers from Portland State University analyzed the chemical profile of terpenes (fragrant oils found in marijuana that are also used in e-cigarette liquids) after vaporizing them […].
The experiments produced high levels of both benzene and methacrolein, carcinogens that have been shown to cause cancer.”

Thank you so much for sharing, Paul. I think the research will eventually go on to show that the aromatherapy aspect of terpenes will be far more powerful than the ingestion process. I wish there was a way to smell them without inhaling the vapor during a smoke session. Perhaps there will be terpene ultrasound diffusers to compliment cannabis use (and make the room smell better) one day.
Quick question. Could I use this method on vape liquid I purchased ?
We haven’t tried that ourselves, but presumably yes. Since most e-liquid is merely PG/VG and flavoring, using a pre-flavored e-liquid should work just as well!
Hello is there any way i could get some suggestions on heating the wax/shatter up? could i use a hair dryer? im not quite sure what the article is desrcibing.
hello i need help i made thc vape cart and it dont smoke or vape product
Could you show a picture? Which type of concentrate did you use?
Can I use e juice that already has a super low nicotine content like .3 it a 80/20
Certainly! You can use 0 nicotine PG/VG mixtures as well. That’s what I prefer.
I have a problem or misunderstanding with some of the talk regarding CBD’s and vaping or smoking. My understanding is when MMJ is consumed in either manner only THC is transferred/absorbed in this process not CBD’s.
Hello
Can anyone tell me can trulieve truclear 850mg concentrate be turned into a vape juice
PEG400 is the only solution that breaks down and suspends the concentrate correctly
I thinking about using a premix 50 50 vg pg in my magical butter maching, 2 cups with 2oz of bud to make ejuice. Do you think it will be strong enough to smoke well?
Are you suggesting putting the VG and PG into the magic butter machine? Using oil will make it much harder to mix with the VG / PG since they have water in them and water and oil do not mix. You might be better off using your bud to make Rosin and then following the instructions above.
Yes, I use 1oz bud 1C VG & 1C PG in my MB2 – works great!
Once my mixture cools, the wax separates from the e-juice…any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
This is part of the unfortunate nature of mixing oils and water. Shaking your vaporizer filled with the THC e-liquid prior to vaporizing can create a more even mixture as the juice becomes heated.
I made one eliquid with qwiso that separated quite a lot. The solution was to add high proof ethanol like everclear drop for drop and shaking vigorously between drops. The everclear dissolved the qwiso quite nicely and I assume it would work with bho, qwet and rosin as well.
Hey! Found this very useful, just requires a few test/results on mixture for strength. Gotta question, say ive got a 40ml bottle of 80/20 vg what would you recommend on dosage of bho? Been exploring cannibis for the past 8 years and have successfully made small infused bottles to use with a Smok 50w an v4 drip tip with dual coil wicked. Since changed to diffrent top, original caused leakage due to airflow design(not what you want when your out of the house) I recommend using flavoring it really enhances and conseals the aroma of the concentrate.
What % THC is the BHO you are planning to use and what is your intended effect? Mild buzz? Heavy hitting?
What wattage is best to hit this thc e juice?
And also, is it ok to drip the liquid onto an rda style drip top vape?
That’s what I personally use, but with all the variations in vape technologies, I wouldn’t feel confident saying YES 100% either way. I hope this finds you well!
I would stick around 50 to prevent burning your coils too much.
I would really like to use coconut oil to dilute my thc concentrate for vaping. I need a recipe. Any suggestions per gram of concentrate?
If you use coconut oil I hope you enjoy the pneumonia or pneumothorax
That will almost certainly result from vaping saturated fats
just want to mention that PEG400 works best. most of the time regular “eliquids” style PG/VG ends up separating from the concentrate once it cools and ends up being a waste.
just my opinion on the matter. happy daze everyone!
Just peg400 with concentrate? Can I add flavour aswell?
Technically, yes. You could use regular e-liquid and add in the concentrate.
I can absolutely confirm that PEG400 is the best as far as base liquid, just add your own flavoring. Also, would like to add you might want to let your finished product steep for a bit. You’ll make for a better blend since flavor will have a chance to bind. After a week it is definitely stronger than day 1 and the flavor is has more bang. In this instance patience is a bonus.
What is in thc juice that gives its amber color?
Technically, plant matter that has turned brown / residual solvents. THC distillate is purely a white powder. This is a great question.
I have a LEVO oil infuser and I was wondering if I used bud instead of a concentrate and mixed it with PG/VG would it be possible to make E-liquid.
You would need to extract first, otherwise that would probably make a pretty big mess / not dissolve into the PG/VG mixture.
Hey I have some concentrate, that stuff that comes in the syringe usually. Can I use this instead of rosin? Too potent?
It depends on what you like! You can always dilute by using less. What is in the syringe? Sometimes, RSO can be too thick and clog the coils.
Do you think you can sent rhis to indonesia, tried to buy several other brands, but it could not pass the immigration
Sorry, but we don’t sell any THC E-Juice ourselves!
Would extracting from buds into butter method work if you replaced butter with your favorite flavored ejuice?
You need the fat / lipids from butter to capture the THC. We write about that here: https://learn.woahstork.com/cannabis-science/decarboxylation/
Can we not just use the bottle of flavored Vape juice with no nicotine and no THC as the mix? but comes with flavors like black cherry or Cherry Cola or bubblegum or grape.
I personally enjoy this method. You need to be careful not to heat the pre-flavored mixture, though. You don’t want to denature the flavors.
Hey just curious what bho amount you’d recommend for 30ml of 70/30 (VG/PG) of 80% BHO
It depends a lot on your tolerance! I would prefer to get about 100mg in 30ml, but I have a high tolerance!
Never ever use wax paper only parchment paper
