Cherry Pie Strain Guide: A Chill Hybrid

Cherry Pie Strain Guide

What is the Cherry Pie Strain?

Cherry Pie is an indica-dominant strain of cannabis. It is the child of a cross between Grandaddy Purple and Durban Poison.

It is an enriching yet relaxing herb with higher levels of THC than most other marijuana plants. This particular strain is known to be one of the most effective varieties of marijuana when it comes to health and medical relief and has been a fast growing favorite among cannabis users.

Although the levels of THC in this strain is higher than many other varieties, the high that Cherry Pie produces is extremely well-balanced and enjoyable without feeling overwhelming. WoahStork has placed this strain in its “Chill” activity group, suggesting a generally relaxing and soothing effect.

Cherry Pie Genetics, Grow Information and Effects

This variety of cannabis can be grown indoors or outdoors and is a low maintenance plant to cater to. When grown outdoors, the climate should mimic a Mediterranean type climate with a combination of warm, rainy weather and dry, sunny weather. It’s important that the weather remains warm as cold weather results in an unhealthy plant that will never flourish.

It can also be grown indoors using a soil cultivation method or a hydroponics method. In other words, the use of soil isn’t a mandatory requirement. It is important that the plant receives enough light when grown indoors. Therefore, it is recommended that you use a grow light.

The good news is that this particular strain of cannabis is resistant to bugs, mildew, and mold, which makes it one of the easier plants to maintain. It takes about an average of 8-9 weeks for a Cherry Pie plant to flower and all-in-all ends up being a small to medium sized plant. It yields about 14 ounces per plant when grown outdoors and 16 ounces per meter squared if grown indoors. The best month to have your Cherry Pie plant bloom is in October, so plan accordingly.

Although it is primarily an indica strain of marijuana, it is also about 30% Sativa (genetically speaking), which technically classifies it as a Hybrid. For many, this combination results in a deep body relaxation while at the same time providing an uplifting and invigorating experience.

If those two feelings/experiences seem to be counter-intuitive to each other…they are. And that is the magic of this strain, helping you feel deeply relaxed and yet invigorated at the same time.

Indica strains are primarily known to make you drowsy and tired, but the ratio of indica to sativa in Cherry Pie allows you to stay awake as well as calm your mind and body, making this hybrid perfect for mind enhancing creativity as well as helping with social anxiety and agoraphobia.

One of the distinct benefits of this strain of marijuana is that it does not affect your ability to communicate to others or process information clearly. Thus making this strain a hit for social occasions or just hanging out having deep conversations with your friends.

You will feel alert, focused, and motivated which is one of the main reasons why the strain is so popular. Some have even described their experience as euphoric in nature, impacting both their mental and physical feeling of well-being.

Potential Medicinal Use Cases Reported Include Aiding in Symptom Relief from:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • PTSD
  • Social avoidance
  • Sleep disorders
  • And more.

Cherry Pie has a sweet and sour taste and has an aroma reminiscent of a freshly baked pastry. The earthy flavor balances out the sweet fruity taste, making for a fantastic balanced taste and smell combination.

That said, this strain has been touted as one of the best-tasting cannabis herbs there is!

Its plants have curled leaves and are overwhelmingly mossy green in color.

Some plants have bright purple ends as a result of high pigment concentrations. The texture of this plant is exactly what it looks like: a resinous texture, much like tree bark or crystal.

Some people describe its appearance as glassy– a result of the tendency of the leaves to radiate light, giving the plant a glossy and shiny glow.

The buds, by contrast, are dense and wrought with touches of gentle purple and orange hairs, making them appear almost as good as they smell and taste.

Along with the potential to ease symptoms of depression and anxiety, the strain is also known to alleviate ADHD as it helps the mind stay focused and motivated. It also may possess the ability to drastically reduce insomnia, migraine headaches, joint pain, and nausea.

This variety of cannabis is also particularly helpful when it comes to symptoms of withdrawal. The fact that this strain results in a highly therapeutic state of mind and body is what makes it so popular when it comes to both physical and mental health issues.
