Terpenes

This section of WoahStork Learn is all about terpenes. Terpenes are organic compounds that are found in almost all plants, but most particularly conifers. While they are most well recognized for providing plants with their distinctive smell (especially the beloved cannabis smell), they also have a great deal of medicinal benefits as well as recreational uses.

Terpenes, when combined with the different cannabinoids found in cannabis, can create what is known as the entourage effect. This entourage effect, since it can come about from a nearly infinite number of combinations of different cannabinoid and terpene densities, is what gives different strains of cannabis their vastly different effects.

They are also the primary source of cannabis resin. You might be familiar with essential oils like “lavender oil” or “grapefruit oil”. These essential oils are, essentially, terpene extracts.
