Weekly Dose of Woah #43 [September 25, 2019]

dropping ice down a hole makes unusual sounds

Until today, all of our Weekly Doses of Woah have been visual in nature.

Today, we invite you to put on your headphones and turn the volume up.

In what may sound like just a simple act, dropping ice down a borehole in Antartica creates an incredibly unusual sound.

Did you hear the normal “ice sounds” (that’s a thing, right?) followed by what sounds like a cartoon gunshot and then a heartbeat?

We sure did. Give it a few more listens if you missed the heartbeat at the end. Incredible. Drop us a line in the comments if you think you can explain this phenomenon.

Did you say “woah”? Want to give us more opportunities to deliver a woah-worthy experience? Sign up below!
